Sandro
Benigni
Born in Trieste
in 1961, Sandro has taken part in two America’s
Cup campaigns with the Prada team, looking after
sail development and design. After getting a diploma
from the Nautical technical high school of Trieste,
he began his sailmaking career in 1986 with Trieste’s
Olimpic Sails. In 1989, he went to work for North
Sails Italia in Carasco where, as a sail designer,
he produced sails for Mega Yacht, One Design,
Grand Prix and Admiral Cup boats. An expert racer,
he has numerous wins under his belt in various
classes: he was Italian IOR class VI champion
in 1982 and IOR class IV champion in 1987, Italian
J24 champion at Lignano and Porto Rotondo, and
won the Italian IMS title in 2000 at Riva di Traiano. |
